Customer: Homeowners in North Hills

Issue: Homeowners in the North Hills needed to secure their bowed wall in order to sell their house.

helical tieback and plate anchorsThe North Hills homeowners front foundation wall is 35′ long and required 7 anchors to properly secure. Matthews Wall Anchor & Waterproofing used extensions on each anchor to get past the sidewalk and landscaping in their front yard. When we arrived, we marked each anchor location on the inside wall. We then hand dug the holes where each 16″x 24″ earth plate would be put into the ground. Tarps were placed on the ground to pile the dirt on. We do this to make sure that all of the dirt makes it back into the hole and to keep the yard nice.

We then drilled 1″ holes on the inside wall at the place of each anchor. 3/4″ steel rods were then driven through the wall and earth to the holes that were dug. The earth plates were then attached to the rods in the holes, and 12″x 28″ plates were attached to the inside wall. Each anchor was then tightened down. The dirt was put back into the hole and a powered tamper was used to pack the dirt. The grass was nicely put back over the spot it was taken from. Everything was perfectly cleaned up after the job was complete.

The job took only 1 day to complete. The house is now ready to move forward with the sale.

Two of the anchors were placed slightly lower than the others due to the dropping grade of the front yard. If you have any questions about this project or to see if this solution is right for you, contact the team at Matthews Wall Anchor & Waterproofing today.
