The foundation of your home is the most important part of the home. The entire weight of the structure sits on the foundation. When something goes wrong with the foundation, the entire structure will become damaged. Foundation problems can start when the soil beneath the foundation is unsettled. When the soil becomes overly saturated, it will heave and when it gets extremely dry, it will shrink. All of this shifting of the soil will also cause your foundation to shift and move.
It is important to know what some of the signs of foundation settlement are. Look around your home and look for some of these signs:
If you see any of these signs, contact the professionals at Matthews Wall Anchor & Waterproofing Services. We will come and give you a free inspection and offer you the foundation repair solution that will fit your needs.
We use underpinning products such as steel push piers and helical piers to level and stabilize your foundation. These piers are driven deep into the ground through the unstable soil layers until they reach a solid soil layer. Each pier is then load tested. After load testing, the entire weight of the structure is lifted onto the piers. The foundation will be level and stabilized for many years to come.
For bowing or leaning walls, we use wall anchors and plate anchors. These anchors will pull the wall back to its original level and strengthen the wall so that it won’t bow or lean in the future.
A wet basement can cause damage throughout the entire home. It can cause you to lose living space, ruin personal possessions and will become a breeding ground for mold and mildew which will cause health issues for you and your family. Standing water is an obvious sign that you are in need of waterproofing. But there are other signs that are not so obvious such as:
Contact the professionals at Matthews Wall Anchor & Waterproofing Services for a free inspection. We will offer you the best waterproofing solution to fit your needs. We offer the following waterproofing services:
Interior waterproofing is the installation of drainage channels and pipes in the interior of the basement footings. These drainage channels and pipes collect the water and drain it into the sump pit. The sump pump will turn on and drain the water from the sump pit away from the basement.
Exterior waterproofing works closely with the interior waterproofing and sump pump system. A waterproofing membrane is installed on the exterior surface of the foundation walls and prevents water from getting into the basement. A drainage board is also installed that is covered in dimples, this allows the necessary space for water to travel from the top of the wall down to the collecting pipes below.
The sump pump system includes the sump pit, sump pump, and battery backup sump pump. The sump pit collects the water and when it reaches a certain level. the sump pump will turn on and pump the water out of the pit, away from the foundation. The battery backup sump pump will turn on if you lose power.
